Dr. Suman Kumar took over as Director (Commercial) of NBCC (India) Limited on 02.07.2024. Dr. Kumar, who joined NBCC in 2016 brings over three decades of extensive experience in Civil Engineering and Project Management to his new role. His expertise and dedication have been instrumental in advancing critical infrastructure projects across various sectors, reinforcing his reputation as a visionary leader in the field of engineering and construction. As Executive Director, Dr. Kumar was entrusted with the execution of NBCC’s two major projects viz. the stalled Amrapali projects in National Capital Region and the World Trade Centre, New Delhi. He contributed successfully in the both the projects wherein NBCC has completed more than 20,000 units of the Amrapali projects till date and sold over 85% inventory of World Trade Centre. The Word Trade Centre has reached the brink of completion wherein NBCC has achieved a physical progress of over 95%.
Throughout his career, Dr. Suman Kumar has demonstrated exceptional leadership skills and achieved remarkable results. He has an impressive track record of successfully completing numerous construction projects. Notable among them are IIM Ranchi, construction of three government engineering colleges in Jharkhand, the CCL Headquarters and Convention Centre in Ranchi, and coal transportation road project for CCL. He has also completed road projects under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) in Jharkhand, Bihar and Odisha. One of his notable achievements is the successful completion of the Super-Specialty Hospital for SAIL in Rourkela, which was inaugurated by the President of India. Apart from this, he played an instrumental role in handing over & inauguration of 250 bedded AIIMS Hospital at Deoghar by the Hon’ble Prime Minister. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from BIT Sindri, Jharkhand, a Master’s degree in Civil Engineering from IIT Kanpur, and in Computer Science from BIT Mesra, Ranchi. His academic achievements are complemented by a Doctorate Degree (PhD) in Civil Engineering and an Executive MBA from IIM Ranchi.Prior to his role in NBCC, Dr. Kumar served as the Chief Engineer and Ex Officio Director in Jharkhand Police Housing Corporation (JPHC).
