Gift Nifty, which stands as a new benchmark to the growth story of Indian equity market, has reached multiple, back-to-back records, reaching record open interest standing at 3,12,190 contracts worth US $12.35 billion (INR 1,01,023 Crs. equivalent) open position as of July 25, 2023 and a record single day trading activity of more than 3,14,900 contracts with turnover of US $12.39 billion (INR 1,01,350 Crs. equivalent) on July 25, 2023. Open positions in terms of number of contracts and value exceeded by 32% and 35% respectively compared to the first day of full-scale operations, which commenced with 2,37,108 contracts worth US $9.14 billion (INR 74,987 Crs. equivalent) in Gift Nifty. Traded contract volume and turnover value witness a significant growth of over 838% and 924% respectively compared to the first day full-scale operations volume of 33,570 contracts with turnover of US $1.21 billion.
