GoI appoints Harinath Mishra as Secretary (Security)

Senior IPS officer Harinath Mishra has been appointed Secretary (Security) in the Cabinet Secretariat, as per a Ministry of Personnel order. Mishra, a 1990-batch officer from the Kerala cadre, currently serves as Special Director General in the Intelligence Bureau. His appointment, approved by the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC), succeeds Swagat Das, who is retiring. As Secretary (Security), Mishra will oversee the Special Protection Group (SPG), responsible for the security of the Prime Minister and his immediate family.
