By THE NEWSMAN OF INDIA.COM| In line with the growing emphasis on sustainable and responsible public transport usage, Dr. KLN Rao, Director General of Police of Gujarat, travelled to office today using the Ahmedabad Metro, combining citizen outreach with a review of commuter safety arrangements.
The metro journey provided an opportunity for the Gujarat Police chief to directly interact with fellow passengers and understand their commuting experiences. During the ride, Dr. Rao engaged with citizens, sought their suggestions for improving safety and security, and encouraged public participation in creating a secure transport environment.
Passengers welcomed the gesture and appreciated the accessibility of the state’s top police officer, noting that such interactions strengthen public confidence and promote closer engagement between citizens and law enforcement agencies.
As part of the visit, Dr. Rao also reviewed security arrangements at the metro station, including surveillance systems, passenger safety protocols, deployment of security personnel and emergency response preparedness. The inspection reflected the continued focus of Gujarat Police on ensuring safe and efficient public transportation infrastructure.
The initiative also subtly echoed the broader national call for responsible fuel consumption and increased use of public transport, following Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s appeal to citizens and government officials to exercise restraint in petrol and diesel usage wherever possible.
Dr. Rao’s metro journey highlighted both the efficiency of Ahmedabad’s modern transit system and the importance of environmentally conscious and people-centric governance practices in urban India.
