In a strong message against drug abuse and in support of the vision of a drug-free India, Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel flagged off the National Motorcycle Rally from Gandhinagar under the theme ‘Fight Against Drugs’, ahead of National Unity Day on October 31 at Ekta Nagar.

The rally reflects the growing emphasis on public awareness, collective responsibility and coordinated action to combat the menace of drugs. By bringing together participants from different states and Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs), the initiative seeks to extend the message of a drug-free India across geographical and social boundaries.

The motorcycle rally will serve as a moving platform for awareness, encouraging citizens, particularly young people, to recognise the harmful consequences of drug abuse and contribute to building a healthier and safer society. Participants will conduct awareness programmes across states, taking the anti-drug message to communities and encouraging public participation in the campaign.

The presence of Sanjeev Kumar, IAS, Principal Secretary, Home Department (In-charge), and Gyanender Singh Malik, Director General of Police, underscored the importance of administrative leadership and law enforcement in supporting the initiative.

The campaign gains added significance in the run-up to National Unity Day, observed on October 31 to commemorate the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. The occasion celebrates national integration and collective strength, values that also reinforce the need for a united response to the challenges posed by drug abuse.

Through this nationwide outreach, the rally aims to transform awareness into public action and encourage citizens, institutions and law enforcement agencies to work together towards a drug-free India.

The initiative sends a clear message: the fight against drugs requires sustained awareness, community participation and a shared commitment to protecting the country’s youth and future generations.
