Kolkata, August 10, 2026: Hindustan Copper Limited (HCL) has begun the financial year 2026–27 on a strong note, reporting a substantial improvement in profitability and revenue during the first quarter ended June 30, 2026. The company’s latest financial performance reflects robust operational momentum and provides further impetus to its ambitious mine expansion programme.

At its Board meeting held in Kolkata on August 10, HCL approved the financial results for Q1 FY2026–27. The company reported Profit Before Tax (PBT) of ₹471.77 crore, registering an impressive growth of around 163% compared with the corresponding quarter of the previous year.

Profit After Tax (PAT) also increased by around 163% year-on-year to ₹352.61 crore, underlining the company’s stronger bottom-line performance and improved financial position.

A significant rise was also recorded in revenue from operations. HCL posted revenue of ₹936.50 crore during the June 2026 quarter, compared with ₹516.37 crore in the corresponding quarter of June 2025, representing a robust growth of 81%.

The strong financial performance comes at an important phase in HCL’s growth journey, as the company continues to intensify efforts to expand its mining capacity and strengthen its position in the domestic copper sector.

The company is closely monitoring intermediate milestones associated with its expansion projects. These efforts are aimed at ensuring timely progress towards its target of achieving 12.2 million tonnes per annum (MTPA) of ore production by 2030.

HCL is simultaneously pursuing opportunities to expand its resource base. The company is making progress towards reopening other closed mines in Jharkhand, while advancing plans to acquire new mines in Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh. Its exploration efforts in Chile are also progressing as planned, potentially providing further opportunities to strengthen its long-term resource security.

Copper Demand Outlook Offers Additional Tailwind

The global copper market is also providing an encouraging backdrop for HCL. London Metal Exchange (LME) copper prices have crossed **USD 14,000 per tonne**, creating a favourable environment for copper producers.

Copper is expected to remain strategically important as economies worldwide accelerate the transition towards renewable energy, electric mobility and greater electrification. Growing investments in clean energy infrastructure, coupled with advancements in artificial intelligence and stronger decarbonisation policies, are expected to support copper demand over the coming years.

For HCL, the combination of strong quarterly financial performance, rising copper prices and an aggressive mine expansion strategy presents a significant opportunity to build sustainable growth.

The company’s Q1 performance, therefore, marks more than just a strong financial quarter. It signals growing operational momentum as Hindustan Copper moves to expand production capacity, secure new mineral resources and position itself to benefit from the rising global demand for copper.
