“The Indian Army and Coal India Limited are among the most trusted institutions in the country, driven solely by the will to win”: General Ved Prakash Malik

As part of the Golden Jubilee Lecture Series celebrating the remarkable 50-year journey of Coal India Limited (CIL), an inspiring session was held today at the Sangam Auditorium of Gangotri Convention Centre, CCL Headquarters, Ranchi. The keynote speaker for the event was General Ved Prakash Malik (PVSM, AVSM), former Chief of the Indian Army and a decorated hero of the Kargil War.

In his stirring address, General V.P. Malik extended heartfelt congratulations to Coal India and CCL on their golden journey. Drawing a compelling parallel between the Indian Army and institutions like Coal India and CCL, he highlighted shared values such as leadership, discipline, dedication, and service. “Coal India and CCL are institutions as trustworthy and reliable as the Indian Army—because we are driven by a common spirit: we only believe in winning,” he remarked.

Reflecting on the memories of Operation Vijay, General Malik spoke at length about the indomitable courage, valor, and spirit of the armed forces. He traced the journey from Operation Vijay to Operation Sindoor, emphasizing that the guiding principles of “Naam, Namak, aur Nishan” (honor, loyalty, and the flag) should not only be confined to the army but embraced by every institution striving for excellence.

During the event, CCL CMD Nilendu Kumar Singh felicitated General Malik and reiterated CCL’s unwavering commitment to nation-building, social upliftment, and sustainable development.

It is worth noting that the Golden Jubilee Lecture Series is being held under the visionary leadership of P.M. Prasad, Chairman of Coal India Limited. The series has become a source of motivation for employees and continues to fuel Coal India’s journey towards progress and excellence.

The CCL family salutes the courage, determination, and leadership of General Ved Prakash Malik, honoring a legacy that continues to inspire generations.
