Chennai, June 6, 2025 — In a significant stride toward enhancing urban connectivity in Chennai, IRCON International Limited has achieved a major milestone in the Chennai Metro Rail Project. As part of its execution of track work for Corridor-4 under Phase II of the project, IRCON successfully conducted a trial run on the downline between Porur Junction Metro Station and Poonamallee Bypass Metro Station.

The trial, held at 3:00 PM on June 6, 2025, marked the first successful testing of the approximately 10-kilometer viaduct section—a vital segment of the Priority Section of Corridor-4. This corridor connects key residential and commercial zones, aiming to ease traffic congestion and provide a more efficient transportation alternative for Chennai’s growing population.

The smooth completion of the trial run underscores IRCON’s commitment to engineering excellence, innovative project execution, and adherence to timelines. It is also a testament to the coordinated efforts of Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL) and all stakeholders involved in fast-tracking urban mobility infrastructure.
