(THE NEWSMAN OF INDIA.COM) IRCON International has achieved a significant milestone in its journey toward 100% railway electrification with the successful statutory inspection and full-sectional speed trial conducted on June 16, 2025, along the Dibrugarh–Duliajan section of Tinsukia Division, Northeast Frontier Railway.

Covering 62 Route KM and 93 Track KM, this section’s electrification marks the completion of the entire Rajdhani main route through the Lumding and Tinsukia Divisions. This advancement allows seamless electric traction operations to the remote regions of Northeast India, eliminating the need for traction changes and reducing travel time significantly.

The project was executed under the RE PKG-6 contract, where IRCON commissioned 480 Route KM and 624 Track KM of Overhead Equipment (OHE). The upgrade supports 25kV electric traction, boosting operational efficiency while aligning with Indian Railways’ mission for sustainable infrastructure. This shift not only improves speed and connectivity but also contributes to reducing carbon emissions across the network.
