IRCON has successfully installed and commissioned the 25kV Rigid Overhead Conductor-rail System in tunnels and the 25kV Flexible Overhead Catenary System on viaducts from the Shatabadi Nagar to Modipuram Section, covering 15.23 route kilometers. This achievement marks a major milestone in the NCRTC Project.
The commissioning of this section completes the Delhi–Ghaziabad–Meerut–Modipuram corridor, ensuring seamless connectivity across 82 route kilometers. The first trial run of the Namo Bharat train on this section took place on May 1, 2025, highlighting the team’s efficiency and dedication.
Equipped with an Overhead Equipment (OHE) system engineered for speeds of 180/160 km/h, this corridor is now recognized as India’s fastest electrified railway system. IRCON’s expertise in railway electrification played a critical role in this success. This development is expected to significantly enhance regional connectivity and reduce travel time for passengers, representing a major leap forward in India’s high-speed rail network.
