Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation Ltd (IRCTC), A Govt. of India enterprise has opened its avenues in Rail based tourism to professionalize and upgrade the services and has been successfully operating various package tours including Bharat Darshan tour package, Rail Tour Packages, LTC packages, charter coach/train packages, Customized tours, Educational tours for Schools & Colleges City tours and Car rental services, International Tour Packages etc. The premium Bharat Darshan Tourist Train operated by IRCTC, south zone has crossed more than 385 operations since inception in 2005-06.

In line with the Prime Minister’s vision for the promotion of domestic tourism among the citizens, IRCTC/SZ has proposed the operation of exclusive tourist trains across destinations in India to benefit the public at large. Tours are being planned in the Pilgrimage, Spiritual, Leisure, Educational circuits etc. An exclusive Bharat Darshan Special Tourist Train “Shri Ramayana Yatra” has been planned from Madurai.

Ramayana Yatra Spl ex Madurai via Dindigul, Tiruchchirappalli, Thanjavur, Kumbakonam, Mayiladuthurai Jn, Chidambaram, Cuddalore Port, Villupuram Jn., Chennai Egmore, Katpadi Jn, Jolarpettai Jn covering Hampi– Nasik – ChitrakutDham – Varanasi – Gaya – Sitamarhi – Janakpur (Nepal) Ayodhya – Nandigram – Prayagraj – Shringaverpur from 16.11.2021 to 28.11.2021.
