The appointed Chairperson will serve a three-year term based in Hyderabad, with a monthly remuneration of ₹5.62 lakh, excluding housing and car facilities.

As of April 8, 2025, the Government of India is in the process of selecting a new Chairperson for the Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India (IRDAI), following the conclusion of Debasish Panda’s tenure on March 13, 2025. While the government has not officially disclosed the list of applicants, several individuals are speculated to be contenders for the position:Aramane Giridhar: A retired 1988-batch Andhra Pradesh cadre IAS officer and former Defence Secretary. Ajay Seth: A 1987-batch Karnataka cadre IAS officer, currently serving as the Economic Affairs Secretary, with retirement anticipated on June 30, 2025.
