IRS Association Leadership Pays Courtesy Visit to CBDT, Presents Arthashastra as Symbol of Ethical Governance

By THE NEWSMAN OF INDIA.COM| The newly elected office bearers of the IRS Association (All India Body) recently paid a courtesy visit to the senior leadership of the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT), marking an important moment of dialogue, mutual respect, and institutional harmony.

Leading the delegation were Smt. Banita Devi Naorem, President, Smt. Deepshikha Sharma, General Secretary, and Ankur Jain, Joint General Secretary. The team called on Ravi Agrawal, Chairman, CBDT, Sanjay Bahadur, Member (IT), CBDT, and Smt. Mona Singh, Member (A&J), CBDT.

The interaction reflected the Association’s commitment to strengthening professional engagement with the Board and contributing constructively to policy implementation and administrative excellence. During the meeting, the office bearers shared their vision for fostering unity, transparency, and professional development within the Indian Revenue Service.

As a symbolic gesture, the delegation presented a copy of Kautilya’s *The Arthashastra* to the CBDT leadership. The ancient treatise, renowned for its insights on governance, ethics, administration, and statecraft, was offered as a reminder of the timeless principles that continue to guide public service in modern times.

The presentation of the Arthashastra underscored the Association’s emphasis on integrity, accountability, and efficient administration. It reflected a shared belief that classical wisdom, when aligned with contemporary practices, can inspire responsible leadership and effective governance.

Senior officials of the CBDT appreciated the gesture and welcomed the newly elected team, expressing confidence in their leadership. The interaction also provided an opportunity to discuss issues concerning capacity building, service welfare, and the evolving challenges in tax administration.
