ITDC Welcomes IAS Assistant Secretaries for Institutional Attachment and Leadership Interaction

By THE NEWSMAN OF INDIA.COM| New Delhi: India Tourism Development Corporation (ITDC), the public sector undertaking under the Ministry of Tourism, Government of India, welcomed two IAS Assistant Secretaries as part of their institutional attachment programme at the ITDC Headquarters in New Delhi. The interaction marked an important initiative towards strengthening administrative understanding, institutional exposure and collaborative governance between young civil servants and key public sector organisations.

The orientation session was conducted under the leadership of Mugdha Sinha, IAS, Managing Director, ITDC, who warmly received the Assistant Secretaries and introduced them to the organisation’s vision, operational framework and strategic role in promoting tourism and hospitality in India. The session served as an engaging platform for meaningful dialogue and exchange of ideas on governance, tourism development, public sector functioning and institutional innovation.

Senior officials including the Chief Vigilance Officer, Director (Finance), Director (Commercial and Marketing), Heads of Departments and other senior officers were present during the orientation programme. The interaction provided the visiting officers with valuable insights into ITDC’s multifaceted operations, hospitality management systems, tourism infrastructure initiatives and its contribution towards strengthening India’s tourism ecosystem.

During the session, detailed presentations were made highlighting ITDC’s legacy, its evolving role in the tourism and hospitality sector, digital transformation initiatives, marketing strategies and future development plans. Discussions also focused on policy implementation, public service delivery, institutional coordination and the growing importance of tourism as a driver of economic growth and employment generation.

The attachment programme forms part of the Government of India’s broader initiative to expose young IAS officers to the functioning of premier public sector organisations and institutions. Such engagements are designed to provide practical understanding of governance systems, inter-departmental coordination and public administration beyond conventional bureaucratic structures.

Mugdha Sinha emphasised the significance of institutional engagement and knowledge-sharing between government organisations and young administrators. She noted that interactions of this nature help create a stronger understanding of public sector dynamics while also encouraging innovation, leadership development and collaborative problem-solving among future policymakers and administrators.

The orientation session also offered the Assistant Secretaries an opportunity to interact directly with senior management officials and gain firsthand exposure to ITDC’s operational practices and organisational culture. The programme reflected ITDC’s continued commitment towards supporting governance initiatives, leadership engagement and capacity building within the administrative framework of the country.

The visit concluded with an interactive exchange between the Assistant Secretaries and senior officials, reaffirming the importance of cooperation, learning and institutional partnership in advancing effective governance and nation-building initiatives.
