Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust wins Samudra Manthan Award 2018

Mumbai, December 17, 2018: JNPT over the years has been fully focussed on setting up facilities which boost EXIM trade and reduce cost of operations and save time. Innovative measures have been implemented at the Port which has resulted in all-round improvement in efficiency.

Recognising these initiatives,Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust,India’s Premier Container Port has been conferred with “Innovative Port of the year”award in the Ruby category at the 6th Samudra Manthan Awards 2018.

Aligned with the vision of the Prime Minister,Narendra Modi, JNPT has initiated several reforms towards being a paperless port which would help in ease of doing business with the port. JNPT has been implementing several infrastructure and digitization measures for the benefit of its customers. RDE (Radiological Detection equipment), RFID based Gate automation (Radio Frequency Identification), DPE (Direct Port Entry) DPD (Direct port Delivery), Logistic Data Bank tagging are some of the service introduced by JNPT which has benefited the EXIM Trade. All these initiatives contributed to the emergence of JNPT as the winner in the ‘Innovative Port of the year’.
Accepting the award on behalf of JNPT, Neeraj Bansal, Chairman-in-Charge, JNPT said, “JNPT is committed to bring full transparency in its operations and deploy technological advances to benefit the EXIM Trade. These awards which recognise and appreciate the trade-friendly steps being implemented at JNPT will spur the team further to work harder and raise the efficiency-bar to next level”. From the total 14 categories of Samudra Manthan award, JNPT was the winner in the “Innovative Port of the year” in Ruby category.
The award was instituted by Bhandarkar Shipping, which is a leading publication in the maritime industry. It aims to fuel healthy competition in the maritime sector and impart an impetus to the industry to emerge stronger to work for the benefit of trade and the economy.
