JNPA Surges Ahead with 15.52% Growth in the First Quarter of FY 2025, Handles 19,50,188 TEUs
Mumbai, July 03, 2025: Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority (JNPA), India’s largest container port, has recorded a significant performance milestone by handling 19,50,188 TEUs of container traffic during the first quarter of FY 2025 (April to June), marking an impressive 15.52% growth over the same period last year.
This robust growth reflects JNPA’s continued commitment to operational excellence, capacity optimisation, and enhanced service delivery across its terminals. The port also handled 24.20 million tonnes of total cargo in the same period, representing a 10% increase year-on-year.
The rail operations at JNPA registered a notable uptick as well, with the port handling 1,764 container rakes and 284,102 TEUs by rail during the April–June 2025 quarter. This compares favourably with 1,534 rakes and 243,309 TEUs moved during the corresponding period in FY 2024.
JNPA’s consistent growth is underpinned by its efficient cargo handling systems, improved hinterland connectivity, and a strategic push towards digitalisation and sustainability. As capacity utilisation strengthens and ancillary services evolve to match demand, JNPA is poised for even greater throughput in the coming months, reinforcing its status as a key maritime gateway for India’s global trade.
