D. K. Shivkumar led Karnataka government has entrusted one of its most dynamic and technology-driven police officers, M.N. Anucheth, with a new and equally significant responsibility. The 2009-batch IPS officer has been appointed as the Information Commissioner of Karnataka, succeeding Hemanth Nimbalkar. Anucheth brings with him a distinguished record in policing, public administration and technology-enabled governance. Having served as Deputy Inspector General of Police (Recruitment), Joint Commissioner of Police (Traffic), Bengaluru, and Deputy Commissioner of Police in several key divisions including West, Central and Whitefield, he has earned a reputation as an innovative officer capable of translating data into effective public policy outcomes.

His tenure as Bengaluru’s traffic chief drew national attention for the adoption of modern traffic management systems. Under his leadership, Bengaluru Traffic Police leveraged data from major technology parks and mobility aggregators to improve traffic flow and urban mobility. The expansion of AI-enabled surveillance and traffic monitoring systems reflected his commitment to using technology for solving complex civic challenges.

What makes Anucheth’s appointment particularly noteworthy is his rare blend of technical expertise and administrative experience. Before joining the Indian Police Service, he worked as a VLSI engineer, giving him a deep understanding of technology, data analytics and digital transformation—skills that are increasingly essential in modern governance and public communication.
