LNG PRT with container at CONCOR’s MMLP, flagged off

Ravinder Goyal-Member Operations & Business Development, Railway Board, Govt of India, inaugurated state-of-the-art LNG station and flagged off 1st LNG powered road trailer with container at CONCOR’s Multimodal Logistics Park (MMLP) located on Western DFC at Khatuwas (Rajasthan) on 14th November 2024, in presence of Sanjay Swarup, CMD/CONCOR and other senior officers of Indian Railways and CONCOR. Goyal is a distinguished IRTS officer of 1987 batch with vast experience in various aspects of Railway administration. Container Corporation of India Ltd (CONCOR)- a Navratna CPSE under Ministry of Railways, Govt of India, is managing 66 Container Terminals across the length and breadth of the country including 4 MMLPs located on Western DFC. In order to promote environment-friendly logistics solutions in the country, CONCOR has commissioned in-house LNG station at MMLP Khatuwas, in collaboration with IOCL, to ensure un-interrupted supply of LNG to be used primarily for 1st/last mile services to customers on CONCOR-owned LNG-powered road trailers. This is first of its kind facility at any MMLP in North India. LNG is a quieter and cleaner fuel option with an emission factor 25% lower than diesel. Depending on the duty cycle, it emits up to 28% less carbon dioxide CO2, up to 100% less sulphur oxide SOX, up to 59% less nitrogen oxide NOX, up to 91% less particulate mass PPM, and up to 30% less noise compared to diesel trucks. CONCOR’s pioneering initiative marks a significant step towards green logistics in Northern India and demonstrates CONCOR’s commitment to fulfilling ESG norms by reducing carbon emissions and promoting eco-friendly transportation solutions. On this occasion, Ravinder Goyal, MoBD, Railway Board, applauded CONCOR’s commitment to sustainable logistics. He highlighted that LNG is a cleaner, more efficient alternative to diesel, emphasizing that green energy initiatives like these are essential steps toward a more eco-friendly logistics sector. “Every step towards sustainability in logistics is a welcome one,” he added Sanjay Swarup stated, ‘To provide a total logistics solution to our customers, CONCOR is committed to offering First Mile Last Mile (FMLM) connectivity, In this regard CONCOR has zeroed in on LNG fueled trucks to provide 1st& Last Mile logistics solution which is a green and sustainable model in line with ESG norms. To provide FMLM services through LNG in North India, CONCOR has taken the initiative to set up its own LNG pump which is the first such facility in North India.Later, Ravinder Goyal and Sanjay Swarup participated in a tree plantation drive at MMLP Khatuwas.
