By Abul Hasan|THE NEWSMAN OF INDIA.COM|The Madhya Pradesh Government is yet to finalise the successor to Director General of Police Kailash Makwana, who is scheduled to retire on November 30, 2026. According to sources, the state government is expected to take a decision in consultation with the Centre, with the announcement of the new DGP likely after Diwali.
As per the seniority position, the possibility of an officer currently on central deputation appears limited. Three senior officers within the Madhya Pradesh police establishment are understood to be in consideration.
Interestingly, the state could also witness the appointment of its first woman Police Chief, if the government decides to break the conventional pattern.
The tenure of the next DGP is also expected to be an important consideration, particularly in view of the challenges associated with frequent leadership changes and extensions.
Chief Minister Mohan Yadav and the Centre are expected to take a final call. For now, the police establishment is in a wait-and-watch situation.
