Mahesh Dixit Appointed Director of Intelligence Bureau

By THE NEWSMAN OF INDIA.COM| The Centre has appointed Mahesh Dixit, IPS (Telangana cadre, 1993 batch), as the next Director of the Intelligence Bureau (IB), India’s premier internal intelligence and security agency. He will succeed Tapan Kumar Deka and serve a two-year tenure from the date he assumes charge.

A highly regarded intelligence professional, Dixit is currently serving as Special Director in the Intelligence Bureau and brings with him more than three decades of experience in policing, intelligence gathering, counter-terrorism, and national security management. Over the years, he has handled several critical assignments within the intelligence apparatus and has played an important role in strengthening the country’s internal security framework.

His appointment comes at a time when India continues to face evolving security challenges, including terrorism, cyber threats, radicalisation, and cross-border security concerns. With his extensive field experience and deep understanding of intelligence operations, Dixit is expected to provide strong leadership to the organisation and further enhance its capabilities in safeguarding national interests.
