MERI MAATI MERA DESH” CAMPAIGN AT NLCIL

“Meri Maati Mera Desh”, a National Campaign that envisions a unified celebration of India’s soil and valour, commemorating the nation’s journey of freedom and progress, was observed by NLCIL today. Prasanna Kumar Motupalli, CMD, NLCIL along with K. Mohan Reddy, Director (P&P), Suresh Chandra Suman, Director (Mines) & Finance (AC), Samir Swarup, Director (HR) and M. Venkatachalam, Director (Power), Senior officers, Employees and staff of NLCIL, participated in the campaign held on behalf of NLCIL. A public place near the Central Bus Stand was identified for creating the “Amrit Vatika”.
CMD, NLCIL, first unveiled memorial “Shilaphalakam” at the venue. He inaugurated the “Amrit Vatika”, a garden comprising of 75 indigenous saplings and hoisted the National Flag followed by National Anthem to start the proceedings. During the function, a mobile App – VANAM (Vriksharopan Abhiyan of NLCIL – App for Motivation) was released by CMD. Later, as a significant part of the event, a pledge – “Panch Pran Pledge” was administered to all participants with soil in their hands symbolising mother earth. A message by CMD on this occasion was also released as part of “CMD Communication Series” titled “Green Impact (Tree Plantation Drive) and distributed to all.
Speaking on the occasion, Prasanna Kumar Motupalli, CMD, spoke of NLCIL’s commitment to environmental protection and sustainability in keeping with the spirit behind the National campaign “Meri Maati Mera Desh”. He expressed pride that NLCIL always gave utmost importance for environmental responsiveness and Green development to bring sustainable growth to the company as well as the society. He also said that in Neyveli Mines, 80% of land reclaimed so far was afforested with more than 30.80 Lakh Trees. Neyveli Thermal area was planted with a green cover of 2.30 Lakh trees. As part of consistent efforts in giving back greenery to Mother Nature, he announced the launch of a ‘Special Drive Tree Plantation’ today. Prasanna Kumar Motupalli, CMD, NLCIL, made an appeal to every employee, their family members and all stakeholders to plant at least one new sapling and share the photo through VANAM – (Vriksharopan Abhiyan of “NLCIL – App for Motivation”) from the NLCIL website www.nlcindia.in. This good initiative will not only showcase the commitment to the environment, but also be an appreciation for the efforts taken, he said. The commitment and collective effort would bring more positive change and the special Tree Plantation Drive would fetch everlasting support for environment stability and ecological balance, he said. The programme ended with the plantation of 75 saplings at the “Amrit Vatika”.
