Maharashtra Strengthens Global Industrial Partnerships Through Engagement with Italy

Maharashtra is continuing to expand its international industrial and investment partnerships, with the Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC) taking proactive steps to strengthen economic engagement with global partners. A recent meeting between MIDC leadership and the Consul General of Italy highlighted the potential for deeper cooperation in industrial development, investment promotion and business opportunities.

On 13 October 2026, MIDC welcomed Walter Ferrara, Consul General of Italy, to its office for a meeting with Shri Deependra Singh Kushwah, IAS, Chief Executive Officer, MIDC. The meeting was also attended by Shri Ajit Kumbhar, IAS, and Smt. Varsha Thakur-Ghuge, IAS, Joint CEOs of MIDC.

The discussions focused on exploring opportunities to deepen economic and industrial cooperation between Italy and Maharashtra, with particular emphasis on attracting investment, promoting industrial development and creating avenues for Italian enterprises to establish and expand their presence in the state.

The interaction reflects Maharashtra’s continued efforts to strengthen its position as a preferred destination for international investors by building meaningful partnerships with countries that have established industrial capabilities, technological expertise and a strong manufacturing base.
