Major Success for Hawkforce in Naxal-affected Region of Balaghat, Four Female Maoists Killed in Encounter, Intensive Search Operation for Fleeing Maoists Underway

Encounter in Supkhar Forest Area of Balaghat District

Bhopal, February 19, 2025. As per the direction of Union Home Minister, Amit Shah, and Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh, Dr. Mohan Yadav, the Madhya Pradesh Police is committed to the timely eradication of the Naxal problem. In this context, Hawkforce achieved a major success in Balaghat district, under the Gadhi Police Station jurisdiction, in the Supkhar forest area. On February 19, 2025, Wednesday, an encounter took place in which four female Maoists were killed. The security forces seized SLR, INSAS 315 bore, and 303 bore rifles, along with other materials. A search operation for the fleeing Maoists is ongoing in the forest. After the operation concludes, the identification of the deceased Maoists will take place.

Due to the recent losses sustained by the Maoists in the wake of aggressive action by the security forces, they had attempted to cause harm to the security personnel in the Supkhar forest area. Continuous intelligence reports about their presence and activities led to the deployment of the Hawkforce in the area. During the search, the Maoists launched a lethal attack with the intention of killing the security forces and looting their weapons. In self-defense, the security forces responded with controlled firing. However, seeing the overwhelming response from the forces, the remaining Maoists fled into the dense forests and mountains.

Deadly BGL Weapon Seized for the First Time in the State During Recent Encounter

Inspired and guided by the vision of Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav, the Hawkforce, under the leadership of senior police officers in Balaghat, has been carrying out aggressive strategic operations that have thwarted Maoist plans and restricted their activities. In December 2024, two encounters took place in Mandla district with Maoists. Similarly, in January and February 2025, encounters with Maoists took place in Balaghat. On February 7, 2025, during an encounter in the Managarh forest of Hatta Police Station area in Balaghat, a deadly weapon, BGL (Barrel Grenade Launcher), which has long-range capabilities, was seized for the first time in the state. Additionally, during these operations, several Maoist hideouts were discovered in the forest, where daily-use items, Maoist literature, and explosives were seized, targeting their economic interests. A printer used for printing anti-government propaganda pamphlets was also recovered.

The relentless efforts by the Madhya Pradesh Police continue as they remain committed to their operations against the Maoists. Future operations will maintain the same level of aggression to keep the Maoist activities in check and further dismantle their networks.

This series of successes is a direct result of the state government’s determination to eliminate the Naxal threat and ensure safety for the residents of the affected areas.
