Balaghat (Madhya Pradesh), June 14, 2025: In a notable breakthrough in the ongoing fight against left-wing extremism, Madhya Pradesh Police gunned down four armed Naxalites—including one male and three female ultras—in a fierce encounter in the dense forests of Balaghat district earlier today. The operation, launched amid relentless rainfall, is being hailed as a record-setting success for the state’s counter-insurgency efforts.

According to official sources, a joint team of Madhya Pradesh Police and its special anti-Naxal units launched a major combing operation in the Balaghat region, a known Naxalite corridor, when they encountered an armed group. A gun battle ensued, resulting in the neutralisation of four hardcore operatives. Weapons and other incriminating materials were recovered from the site.

Unprecedented Success in 2025

This operation has taken Madhya Pradesh’s anti-Naxal success to a historic high. With this latest action, the number of Naxalites killed in the state in 2025 has now reached double digits—*a feat never before achieved in a single calendar year in MP’s internal security record*.

Previously, the highest number of Naxalites neutralised in a year stood at six. This year’s tally—achieved in just five and a half months—is being seen as a resounding statement of intent by the Madhya Pradesh Police and government to decisively eliminate the red threat from its soil.

Despite persistent rainfall and challenging terrain, the security forces continued the operation with unwavering resolve. Officials confirmed that the operation was still ongoing as of the latest updates, with efforts being made to sanitise the area and intercept any remaining hostile elements. The bravery and endurance shown by the personnel on ground reflect the determination of the state machinery to restore full peace and control in vulnerable districts.

A Focused Offensive to Dismantle Naxal Network

The Balaghat-Kanha region has long been a sensitive zone with suspected movements of Naxal cadres. However, with increased surveillance, coordinated intelligence sharing, and strategic planning, security forces have stepped up efforts to dismantle the underground network. Today’s successful strike is being termed as a “record achievement” by law enforcement authorities.
