A global event which has started With a slogan Embark On An Adventure With Jal Mahotsav being organized from 15th December 2016 to 15th January 2017 at Hanuwantiya, district Khandwa, Madhya Pradesh by MP Tourism is turning out to be the most happening tourism activity in the country. taking inspiration from the Prime Minister Narendra Modi; Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh, Shivraj Singh Chouhan planned to make Hanuwantiya tapu (island) one of the most sought after tourist destination. With innovative ideas the first Jal Mahotsav was organized by Madhya Pradesh Tourism Department for 10 days 12-21 Feb 2016. It inspired awe in the mind of all visitors. Indira Sagar dam is one of the biggest man made water body of Asia. Madhya Pradesh Tourism Department received an encouraging response from all the travel agents, tour operators, adventure tour operators etc.

The event was inaugurated by Shivraj Singh Chouhan (Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh) & Venkaiah Naidu (Cabinet Minister of GOI) in the presence of Surendra Patwa (Minister of State for Culture and Tourism), grand success of Jal Mahotsav at Hanuwantiya has been always the top priority team MP Tourism headed by committed and result oriented bureaucrat Hari Ranjan Rao (Commissioner and Managing Director of Madhya Pradesh Tourism) and his team Ms. Tanvi Sundriyal (Additional Managing Director of Madhya Pradesh Tourism) and Vivek Mathur (GM)
