NBCC TO BUILD ECO-FRIENDLY KENDRIYA VIDYALAYA AT KHAJURI KHAS, DELHI.

By THE NEWSMAN OF INDIA.COM| The “Bhoomi Poojan Ceremony” for the Permanent Campus of “Kendriya Vidyalaya at Khajuri Khas, Delhi” was held on 02.03.2026. The event witnessed the gracious presence of esteemed dignitaries including Ms. Rekha Gupta, Chief Minister, Government of Delhi; Ashish Sood, Hon’ble Education Minister, Government of Delhi; Manoj Tiwari, Member of Parliament (Lok Sabha), North-East Delhi; Kapil Mishra, Minister of Law & Labour, Government of Delhi; Rajeev Kumar, Chief General Manager, NBCC along with other Senior officers of KVS and NBCC.
Chief Minister Ms. Rekha Gupta, in October 2025 had announced that a new Kendriya Vidyalaya will soon open in Khajuri Khas, north-east Delhi, to provide high-quality education.
NBCC (A Govt. of India Enterprise) has been entrusted with the Construction of the “Two-section School Building and Development of other Facilities for Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (KVS) at Khajuri Khas, Delhi”, at an approximate cost of Rs 47.80 crore. This project will be constructed with a strong focus on sustainability, incorporating solar power systems and energy-saving measures to achieve a 4-Star GRIHA rating for green buildings. The stipulated completion period for the new building is 24 months.
The New Academic Building will have a built-up area of 8,725 sqm on a 1.82-acre plot, comprising Ground + 4 Floors with a building height of 17.5 meters. The new Academic Building will significantly enhance educational access in the region, providing capacity for 1,520 students. The expanded infrastructure will feature 38 well-ventilated classrooms (40 pax each), a grand double-height entrance lobby with a centrally placed statue of Goddess Saraswati, a multipurpose court for senior students, a dedicated play area for Bal Vatika, lift for universal accessibility and parking for 4 wheelers and 2 wheelers. Future expansion has also been strategically planned on the fourth floor to accommodate 10 additional classrooms.
Highlights of the Project:
Inspirational Academic Spaces: The academic block is designed with a focus on safety, accessibility, and natural light. Classrooms are arranged along a single-loaded corridor to maximize cross-ventilation and acoustic comfort, ensuring a vibrant and inclusive learning environment.
Cooling and Environmental Benefits: The environmentally sustainable design includes solar power provision, LED fixtures, and Solar Street Lights to generate energy and save power. It also features a Sewage Treatment Plant, Rainwater Harvesting Systems, EV charging points and approximately 25% green cover of total area (Grass Pavers and Landscaping) to reduce the carbon footprint and improve air quality.
This new Kendriya Vidyalaya Campus is set to be a cornerstone in educational development in the region, embodying a commitment to enhancing student life while adhering to principles of environmental sustainability, pedestrian safety, and cultural identity.
