“New Trauma Care Unit Constructed in KGel Hospital by NLCIL

NLC India Limited, a Navratna Public Sector under Ministry of Coal, GoI is carrying out various social development works for the people in the surrounding villages through its CSR initiatives for achieving inclusive and sustainable growth. Since Cuddalore district being the major operating region, majority of the CSR fund is being utilized for the benefit of the common public in this district.
As part of various CSR initiatives, “Health Care” is considered as the prime need of the people of surrounding villages. With this objective, “Accident and Emergency Ward (Trauma Care Unit)” in Government Hospital, Kurinjipadi, Cuddalore District was constructed at a cost of Rs 2.50 crore. NLC India has always been committed to improve lives of people living in its peripheral areas and this project is a testament to the same.
The newly constructed 11,900 sq.ft. health care facility has two floors with lift for the benefits of the patients. Provisions are given in the ground floor for wards, duty doctors, nurses, reception cum x-ray room, ante cum console room and lobby. Provisions are also made in the first floor for air handling unit, patients preparation, scrub cum sterilization, operation theatre, ICU, Post-operative red zone.
After this grand inauguration, Prasanna Kumar Motupalli, CMD of NLC India Limited said that the new facility will extend benefits to the people of 141 surrounding villages in 53 panchayats of Kurinjipadi Taluk avoiding emergency rush to Cuddalore GH to undertake critical treatments without any time delay.
In a function held today at Government Hospital, Kurinjipadi, the above Trauma care unit was opened by M.R.K. Paneerselvam, Minister of Agriculture & Farmer’s welfare, Govt. of Tamilnadu in the presence of Dr. A. ArunThamburaj, I.A.S. District Collector Cuddalore, Prasanna Kumar Motupalli, Chairman and Managing Director, NLCIL, Samir Swarup, Director/HR, NLCIL and Smt. R. Saranya, Additional Collector, DRDA, Cuddalore. Joint Director of Medical & Rural Health services, Cuddalore and Chief Medical Officer, GH Kurinjipadi have also participated in the function.V Ramachandran, Executive Director, CSR / NLCIL arranged the function in a grand manner.
