By THE NEWSMAN OF INDIA.COM| Bhupender Gupta, CMD, NHPC inaugurated the Data Privacy Day 2026 programme observed by NHPC Limited on 30.01.2026 in collaboration with the Data Security Council of India (DSCI) to promote awareness on data protection and privacy. Sanjay Kumar Singh, Director (Projects); Mahesh Kumar Sharma, Director (Finance); Santosh Kumar, CVO and other senior officials were present on the occasion, while officials from various NHPC locations joined virtually. Addressing the gathering, CMD, NHPC emphasized that as a PSU, NHPC handles sensitive data of employees, citizens, vendors and business partners and safeguarding such data is a technical necessity, ethical responsibility and statutory obligation. He added that Data Privacy Day goes beyond regulatory compliance to protecting individual dignity, public trust and organizational credibility. Sukrit Ghosh, Director, DSCI, highlighted that under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, data privacy has become a legal, ethical and governance imperative, requiring lawful data collection, adequate safeguards and need-to-know access. The event reinforced NHPC’s commitment to data protection, privacy awareness and statutory compliance in the digital era.
