New Delhi, May 21, 2025 — The Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB) conducted interactions with a dozen shortlisted candidates for the position of **Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) of NTPC Ltd, one of India’s largest power generation companies.

Candidates who appeared for the selection process included senior officials at the level of Additional Secretary, Managing Director, Director, and Executive Director from reputed public and private sector organizations.

Following a comprehensive evaluation, the Board did not recommend any candidate for the top post. PESB has advised the Administrative Ministry/Department to consider an appropriate course of further action for the selection process. This may include the formation of a Search-cum-Selection Committee (SCSC) or any other method as deemed suitable, with the approval of the competent authority.

The development underscores the rigorous standards maintained by the selection process for leadership positions in India’s premier public sector enterprises.
