By THE NEWSMAN OF INDIA.COM |In a remarkable step towards strengthening India’s healthcare infrastructure and expanding access to advanced cancer treatment, the National Stock Exchange of India (NSE), through its CSR arm, NSE Foundation, has partnered with the Tata Memorial Centre (TMC) to construct a landmark G+11-storey Multispecialty Hospital Block and Bone Marrow Transplant (BMT) Centre at the Advanced Centre for Treatment, Research and Education in Cancer (ACTREC) campus, Navi Mumbai.
The Bhoomi Pujan for this state-of-the-art facility was held today, marking the formal commencement of construction. Once completed, the 2.4 lakh sq. ft. hospital will stand as a symbol of corporate social responsibility transforming into tangible, life-saving public service. The project will be executed by Larsen & Toubro (L&T) in EPC mode, at an estimated cost of ₹380 crore, and is expected to be operational by July 2027.
A Landmark in India’s Cancer Care Landscape
The proposed facility will feature a 60-bed Bone Marrow Transplant Centre—the largest in India and among the largest in South Asia—capable of performing over 600 bone marrow transplants annually. It is also projected to serve around 1.3 lakh OPD patients every year, easing the load on existing Tata Memorial facilities and expanding access to quality, affordable cancer care.
The new hospital will cater to general and super-specialty medical services for cancer patients with co-morbidities such as cardiac, pulmonary, renal, and neurological complications—conditions that often require patients to seek treatment in other hospitals. By integrating these specialties under one roof, ACTREC will provide holistic cancer care to thousands of patients from across India.
Commitment to Affordable, Inclusive Healthcare
Speaking on the occasion, Ashishkumar Chauhan, MD & CEO, NSE, said:
“NSE is honoured to partner with Tata Memorial Centre in this landmark initiative. Our aim is to support the healthcare needs of cancer patients and their families, and to contribute meaningfully to the fight against cancer in India. For more than 30 years, NSE has been a catalyst for change—revolutionising India’s financial landscape. Today, we are translating that same spirit of purpose into healthcare, by building a much-needed multispecialty hospital block at ACTREC, Navi Mumbai.”
NSE’s collaboration with TMC underscores how corporate social responsibility can drive national development beyond traditional boundaries. The project reflects NSE’s enduring vision to contribute to India’s social infrastructure with the same commitment and integrity that have defined its journey in the financial sector.
Bridging a Critical Healthcare Gap
Dr Sudeep Gupta, Director, Tata Memorial Centre, highlighted the transformative nature of the initiative, stating:
“The new hospital block will address a critical gap in specialized services for treating comorbidities in cancer patients. The inclusion of a 60-bed Bone Marrow Transplant unit will make ACTREC one of the largest BMT centres in South Asia. This project will ensure that advanced, life-saving care remains accessible to all, especially those in need.”
Echoing this sentiment, Dr Pankaj Chaturvedi, Director, ACTREC, added:
“TMC provides affordable, often life-saving treatment to thousands of cancer patients from across India. This new facility will help us bridge the immense need for specialized care and accessible Bone Marrow Transplant services.”
Dr Navin Khattry, Deputy Director and Bone Marrow Transplant specialist at ACTREC, emphasized the clinical importance of the project:
“BMT is a critical and complex medical procedure, with thousands of patients—including children—waiting for a chance at a cure. This new facility will not only make ACTREC one of the largest centres of its kind in South Asia but will also offer this treatment at highly subsidized costs.”
A Vision Rooted in Compassion and Excellence
ACTREC, established by Tata Memorial Centre under the Department of Atomic Energy (DAE), Government of India, has long been a beacon of hope for cancer patients from every corner of the country—offering advanced treatment at highly subsidized, and often free-of-cost, rates. Each day, hundreds of patients, including children and the economically underprivileged, seek care at its Navi Mumbai campus.
The addition of the NSE Multispecialty Hospital Block represents a turning point in India’s public healthcare narrative—where corporate commitment meets humanitarian need, and where science, compassion, and vision come together to save lives.
A New Chapter in India’s Fight Against Cancer
With environmental clearance granted on September 11, 2025, and construction approval received from CIDCO on October 1, 2025, the project is now set to move full steam ahead. By July 2027, when doors open to patients, this facility will not just expand capacity—it will embody a shared vision of progress, inclusivity, and service to humanity.
The NSE-TMC collaboration marks a defining milestone in India’s mission to make quality cancer care accessible and affordable for all, setting new benchmarks in healthcare excellence for generations to come.
