By THE NEWSMAN OF INDIA.COM|NTPC is looking to deepen its engagement with Kerala, with a focus on supporting the state’s evolving power requirements and expanding its presence in the renewable energy sector.

In this direction, NTPC CMD Gurdeep Singh met Kerala Chief Minister V.D. Satheesan and Power Minister Sunny Joseph in New Delhi. The meeting provided an opportunity to review ongoing activities and discuss potential areas of collaboration between Kerala and NTPC.

The discussions centred on projects of mutual interest that can contribute to meeting Kerala’s long-term electricity requirements. With the state’s energy needs continuing to evolve, greater cooperation with NTPC could help strengthen power availability while supporting the transition towards cleaner and more sustainable sources of energy.

A key focus of the interaction was the development of energy storage solutions and floating solar projects. These emerging technologies can play an important role in integrating renewable energy into the power system, particularly by improving flexibility and supporting reliable electricity supply.

NTPC, through its renewable energy arm NGEL, has been expanding its clean-energy portfolio across the country. The proposed opportunities in Kerala therefore have the potential to complement the state’s renewable-energy ambitions while opening new avenues for NTPC and NGEL.

The meeting reflects a constructive approach towards strengthening Centre-State cooperation in the energy sector and exploring projects that can serve Kerala’s long-term development needs. With continued engagement, the partnership could create opportunities across conventional power, renewables and emerging energy-storage technologies.
