New Delhi: NTPC Renewable Energy Limited (NTPC REL), a subsidiary of NTPC Green Energy Limited (NGEL), on Sunday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Deendayal Port Authority (DPA) to establish a green hydrogen fueling station and deploy 11 hydrogen-powered buses at Kandla Port in Gujarat.
The MoU was signed in the presence of Union Minister for Ports, Shipping and Waterways Sarbananda Sonowal and MLA Maltiben Maheshwari, with senior officials from NTPC and DPA in attendance.
Under the initiative, NTPC REL aims to phase out fossil fuel buses at the port by promoting clean and green energy solutions, contributing to decarbonisation and energy security.
NTPC has been operating a green hydrogen blending project in Surat, Gujarat, for over two years and has undertaken similar mobility projects in Leh, Ladakh; Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh; and Bhubaneswar, Odisha.
The company is also developing a green hydrogen hub in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh, as part of its broader goal to achieve 60 GW of renewable energy capacity by 2032.
