ONGC Reports Robust Q1 FY’26 Results with 18.2% Profit Growth, Operational Gains, and New Discoveries

(THE NEWSMAN OF INDIA.COM)New Delhi | 12 August 2025 — Energy Maharatna Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Ltd. (ONGC) has posted strong financial and operational results for the first quarter of FY 2025-26, underscoring its resilience amid volatile crude prices and its focus on production enhancement and exploration success.
At its 397th Board meeting on 12 August 2025, ONGC approved the Q1 results, reporting a consolidated net profit of ₹11,554 crore, marking an 18.2% increase over ₹9,776 crore in Q1 FY’25. Consolidated gross revenue stood at ₹1,63,108 crore, down 3.5% from last year. On a standalone basis, the company recorded a net profit of ₹8,024 crore, with crude oil production rising 1.2% to 4.683 MMT.
A significant revenue boost came from new well gas, which generated ₹1,703 crore in Q1, aided by a 20% premium over domestic APM prices. ONGC’s focus on tapping new wells has delivered ₹333 crore in additional revenue compared to the APM price benchmark.
Exploration and Production Milestones
ONGC declared two offshore discoveries during the quarter:
Vajramani in Mumbai Offshore, flowing 2,122 BPD of oil and 83,120 m³/day of gas from Mahuva Formation.
Suryamani pool discovery in the Mukta Formation, producing 413 BPD of oil and 15,132 m³/day of gas.
The quarter also saw the commencement of oil and gas production from the PY-3 Field in the Cauvery Basin, gas sales from the North Karanpura CBM block, and gas supply to the CGD sector from Palatana, Tripura. Major infrastructure enhancements included commissioning the country’s largest ASP plant at Ahmedabad Asset and the first onshore Multiphase Pumping (MPP) system at Kalol.
Strategic Initiatives
ONGC signed an MoU with ONGC Videsh to coordinate marketing functions, secured special dispensation for gas sales to Rajasthan Rajya Vidyut Utpadan Nigam Ltd., and received a patent for estimating irreducible water saturation in clastic reservoirs.
Awards and Recognition
The quarter brought multiple honours, including the Global Environment Award 2025 and Global Decarbonisation Award 2025 in the Platinum category, along with accolades for safety, CSR, and innovation at national and international forums.
With steady production growth, premium gas revenue, and fresh discoveries, ONGC’s Q1 performance reflects its strategic focus on operational efficiency, energy security, and sustainable growth.
