Chief Minister Kamal Nath has said that our goal should be to build the future of Madhya Pradesh and fulfill people’s expectations. We should fulfill this duty in the temple of democracy. Nath was addressing the orientation programme of newly elected MLAs at Mansarovar auditorium of Madhya Pradesh Assembly today. Those present on the occasion were Assembly Speaker Narmada Prasad Prajapati, Deputy Speaker Sushri Hina Kanwre, Leader of the Opposition Gopal Bhargav, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Dr. Govind Singh and Lok Sabha Secretary General Smt. Snehlata Shrivastava.
Chief Minister Kamal Nath said that 40 years ago, when he was elected as Lok Sabha member for the first time, he too had taken the first step towards parliamentary knowledge through such orientation programme. The Chief Minister said that our Constitution has well defined the duties and powers of the Legislature. We have to fulfill the expectations of the people of our country, region and state by assimilating the soul of the Constitution. Nath said that politics has changed over time. Many changes have taken place in our society. A new generation of people different from the old world is in front of us. These changes have to be seen and understood by us. The new generation must respect us. The biggest challenge for us today is how to connect the new generation with the Legislature and Executive and how to meet their expectations.
The Chief Minister said that we have to develop Madhya Pradesh in accordance with the changes taking place in the country so that we do not lag behind. He said that a responsible representative must study parliamentary traditions, rules and procedures thoroughly. This will enable him to play a better role in the interest of the public and the state in the Legislative Houses. There is need to pay special attention to know when we have to speak, when to remain silent and how to put up our point effectively. By creating noise and deviating from the topic of discussion, we do injustice not only with our rights and duties but also with the people of the region.
The Chief Minister said that we have been elected for five years. When we fulfill our tenure and go back to ask for support among the people they should welcome us and we get satisfaction, that will be our success. Shri Nath said that only with united efforts, we will be able to create a new map of the state’s development.
Principal Secretary of the Assembly Avdhesh Pratap Singh enlightened on the objectives and outline of the orientation programme. The latest issue of the quarterly journal of the Assembly ‘Vidhayani’ and the book of rules-procedures related to the assembly was released during the programme.
