Prime Minister dedicates to nation BEL’s Advanced Night Vision Products Factory at Nimmaluru, AP

By THE NEWSMAN OF INDIA.COM Bengaluru/Nimmaluru, October 16, 2025: The Prime Minister Narendra Modi today dedicated the Advanced Night Vision Products Factory established by Navratna Defence PSU Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) at Nimmaluru, Krishna district, Andhra Pradesh, at an investment of around Rs. 362 Crore.

N Chadrababu Naidu, Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, S Abdul Nazeer, Governor of Andhra Pradesh, and Pawan Kalyan, Deputy Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, graced the occasion. Manoj Jain, CMD, BEL, and Jitendra Singh, GM (DCCS), BEL, were also present.

This defence production facility fulfils the Indian Defence requirements of night enablement by manufacturing advanced Electro Optic systems, Infrared Seekers for indigenously developed missiles and different types of anti drone systems, reinforcing self-reliance in defence production and promoting skilled employment in the region.

The Nimmaluru plant focuses primarily on the production of night vision devices such as Image Intensifiers, Thermal Imaging Systems and other electro-optical products which are crucial for surveillance, reconnaissance and combat operations of the Defence forces in low-light and nighttime conditions.

Spanning 50 acres of land, the new facility is designed to support the most advanced manufacturing processes. It incorporates key considerations in its design, including efficient material and manpower movement, and integration of Industry 4.0 technologies, all aimed at improving productivity, reducing lead time and ensuring high-quality output in the production of night vision systems. It has a Clean Room area of 5,800 Sqm, a critical feature for ensuring contamination-free environment for the assembly and testing of sensitive opto-electronic components.

This expansion represents a significant step forward in BEL’s efforts to become a global leader in opto-electronics, particularly in the development of next-generation night vision technologies that are essential for modern defence forces.
