Bharat Electricity Summit 2026, held from March 19 to 22 at Yashobhoomi, has emerged as a defining platform showcasing Bharat’s evolving energy landscape and its growing global influence. Bringing together policymakers, public sector enterprises, global partners and industry leaders, the summit reflected a shared determination to build a resilient, sustainable and future-ready power ecosystem.
The inauguration by Manohar Lal Khattar set the tone for high-level deliberations on energy security, digital transformation and clean power expansion. A key highlight was the session on digital energy stack, which underlined the importance of creating a secure, interoperable and consumer-centric electricity system, aligning with the vision of a modern grid.
Public sector enterprises played a central role throughout the summit, demonstrating both leadership and commitment. NTPC Limited stood out with its pavilion themed “Powering Clean Energy with Infinite Possibilities,” offering a glimpse into the future of green hydrogen, advanced storage and renewable integration. CMD Gurdeep Singh actively engaged with global stakeholders, including Africa50, and ministers from Bhutan, Kyrgyz Republic, Tajikistan and Malawi, exploring collaborations across thermal, hydro and renewable domains. The signing of an MoU with Octopus Energy further reinforced India’s expanding global partnerships.
Equally noteworthy was the proactive participation of REC Limited and its subsidiary REC Power Development and Consultancy Limited, which highlighted its work in remote regions like Ladakh, advancing transmission infrastructure, smart metering and regulatory support. Such initiatives underscore the critical role of PSUs in driving last-mile connectivity and energy transition.
The summit also witnessed strong representation from NHPC Limited, where CMD Bhupender Gupta and senior leadership emphasized innovation in hydropower and the strategic importance of pumped storage projects. Their insights reflected a pragmatic approach to addressing challenges while unlocking new opportunities in clean energy.
International engagement remained a cornerstone, with the India–Africa discussions focusing on grid modernisation and cross-border collaboration. India’s continued support for Africa’s development, including its advocacy during the G20 presidency, was reaffirmed through meaningful dialogue and partnership-building.
Another significant dimension was added by Bureau of Energy Efficiency through PRAKRITI 2026, which highlighted carbon finance, digital pathways and global cooperation in climate action. This reinforced the broader narrative of integrating sustainability with economic growth.
Overall, Bharat Electricity Summit 2026 stands as a testament to the dynamism of India’s power sector, with public sector enterprises at its core. Their enthusiastic participation, forward-looking investments and global outreach not only showcased technical strength but also reflected a collective resolve to power a cleaner, more inclusive and sustainable future.
