Rajiv Ranjan Bhagat tenure as IG-SPG extended for two years

The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved the proposal from the Office of Secretary (Security), Cabinet Secretariat, to extend the deputation tenure of Rajiv Ranjan Bhagat, IPS (GJ:98), Inspector General (IG), Special Protection Group (SPG), for an additional period of two years. This extension will be effective beyond the previously scheduled end date of May 20, 2025.
The decision comes in relaxation of the Indian Police Service (IPS) Tenure Policy, acknowledging the crucial role of Bhagat in his current position. His continued service is expected to contribute significantly to the operations and security framework within the SPG, which is responsible for the protection of high-profile individuals, including the Prime Minister of India.
This move highlights the government’s recognition of his contributions and expertise in maintaining security at the highest levels.
