S.C.Dubey Reviews CCL Operations; CMD NK Singh Welcomes Coal Minister, Focus on Youth, Sports and Sustainable Mining

By THE NEWSMAN OF INDIA.COM|Ranchi: Union Minister of State for Coal and Mines, Satish Chandra Dubey, during his visit to Central Coalfields Limited (CCL), conducted an extensive review of the Jarangdih Project and the revised Mine Closure Plan, focusing on Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), environmental protection, scientific mining practices, rehabilitation and public welfare initiatives.
The Minister reviewed various developmental and sustainability-oriented measures being undertaken by CCL and emphasized the importance of balancing coal production with environmental conservation and community welfare. Discussions were also held on rehabilitation efforts for project-affected families and the adoption of scientific mining techniques to ensure long-term ecological and operational sustainability.
During his visit to the CCL Skill Development Centre at Kathara, the Minister interacted with young trainees undergoing skill-based training programmes. He appreciated the efforts being made to empower local youth through vocational education and employment-oriented initiatives. On the occasion, certificates were also distributed among successful trainees who had completed their training programmes.
In a special moment at the CCL headquarters, the Minister honoured Ishank Singh, who achieved the remarkable feat of swimming 29 kilometres across the sea from Talaimannar in Sri Lanka to Dhanushkodi in India in 9 hours and 50 minutes, becoming one of the world’s youngest swimmers to accomplish the challenge. The Minister praised his extraordinary determination and sporting spirit.
The occasion also witnessed the felicitation of international medal-winning athletes associated with JSSPS, jointly supported by CCL and the Government of Jharkhand. Among those honoured were Vikas Oraon for cycling, and gymnasts Rishtee Raj and Chanda Kumari for their outstanding achievements in international competitions. The Minister congratulated the young sportspersons and extended his best wishes for their future success.
Later, a high-level review meeting was held with senior officials from the Ministry, CCL CMD, Directors, Regional General Managers, Headquarters General Managers and Department Heads. The meeting focused on reviewing CCL’s performance in production, overburden removal, safety standards, CSR activities, employee welfare and environmental management.
The Minister guided officials on achieving the production targets for the current financial year and stressed the need for efficiency, safety and sustainable growth in the coal sector. Detailed discussions were also held regarding future expansion and operational strategies. CCL officials assured the Minister that they would work in accordance with the guidance provided to further improve the organisation’s performance.
Senior ministry officials accompanying the Minister appreciated the performance presentations made by CCL and provided detailed guidelines for enhancing operational excellence and strengthening future planning in the energy sector.
