The Central IAS Association elected a new Executive Committee during its General Body Meeting held in New Delhi on July 26, 2025. Marking a generational mix of experience and young leadership, the association chose senior bureaucrat S. Krishnan—a 1989-batch IAS officer of the Tamil Nadu cadre—as its new President.

Krishnan, currently serving as Secretary in the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, takes the helm at a time when the civil services community is looking to deepen its collective relevance and rebuild public trust in governance institutions.

A Balanced Leadership Team

Alongside Krishnan, the committee has brought in a diverse team from across state cadres and batches, reflecting inclusiveness and institutional continuity. Sriram Taranikanti (Tripura cadre, 1992 batch) and A. Anbarasu (Union Territories cadre, 1996 batch) were elected as Vice Presidents, while Kunal (UT cadre, 2005 batch) took charge as Secretary. The role of Treasurer has been entrusted to Aditi Singh, an officer from the 2009 batch of the Uttar Pradesh cadre.

The newly constituted body includes officers across generations—from the late 1980s batch to the 2010s—ensuring representation from both serving and retired officers. Prominent names such as D Thara (Gujarat, 1995), Rahul Singh (Bihar, 1996), Shah Faesal (UT, 2010), and Naveen Aggarwal (UT, 2013) are among the regular members. Retired officers Sanjay Bandhopadhyaya (Madhya Pradesh, 1988) and Sanjay Bhoosreddy (Uttar Pradesh, 1989) have also been inducted, strengthening the continuity of experience.

Setting the Tone for the Future

In his first remarks after being elected, Krishnan emphasized the importance of integrity, mentorship, and professional unity in the civil services. He spoke of the need to reaffirm the relevance of the IAS in a rapidly evolving administrative ecosystem, calling on fellow officers to lead by example and nurture future generations of public servants.

We must contribute not only through individual excellence but by strengthening institutions and upholding values that define public service,” Krishnan stated, setting a thoughtful tone for his term.

A Forum for Voice and Values

The Central IAS Association, functioning as the collective voice of India’s premier administrative service, plays a crucial role in engaging with policy, shaping discourse on service conditions, and providing a platform for officers to connect across states and domains.

The new executive committee reflects a deliberate effort to balance seniority and fresh perspectives. Officers like Chinmay Gotmare (Arunachal Pradesh cadre, 2009 batch) and Shelesh Nawal (Maharashtra cadre, 2010 batch) will serve as Joint Secretaries, supporting the executive in driving initiatives and engagement across cadres.

A Representative Mix

The full committee spans officers from Tamil Nadu, Tripura, Union Territories, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, and Arunachal Pradesh, among others—showcasing the national character of the civil services and the inclusive spirit of the association.

With the new leadership in place, the Central IAS Association is poised to take forward its agenda of ethical governance, officer welfare, and institutional cohesion at a time when bureaucracy is navigating complex challenges in public administration.
