SAIL sweeps majority Vishwakarma Rashtriya Puraskar

86 out of total 132 Vishwakarma Rashtriya Puraskar awardees for the performance year 2013 are from SAIL.- Out of 28 awards, 15 are won by SAIL employees.Winning projects lead to estimated savings of Rs117.12 crores (Recurring) & Rs 86.39 crores (One time) annually.New Delhi, September 18, 2015: In a function held at SCOPE, Steel Authority of India Ltd.’s (SAIL) Director (Finance), Anil K. Chaudhary, Director (Technical), S.S. Mohanty and Director (Commercial), Binod Kumar felicitated SAIL employees who have won 15 out of the
total 28 prestigious Vishwakarma Rashtriya Puraskar (VRP) for the performance year 2013. Out of the total 132 awardees, 86 awardees are from SAIL, who claimed majority of the awards.

The Vishwakarma Rashtriya Awards are a public recognition of outstanding achievements and innovations on the part of the workers in increasing productivity, quality, safety, working conditions, etc. The awards are given to individuals belonging to Industrial Undertakings both in the public and private sector. Earlier Hon’ble Minister of State for Labour and Employment (Independent Charge), Bandaru Dattatreya presented the Vishwakarma Rashtriya Puraskar (VRP) to the awardees at a special ceremony held at Vigyan Bhawan on September, 17, 2015.

It is noteworthy that the estimated annual savings resulting from implementation of the innovative works mentioned in SAIL’s award winning projects are approximately over Rs 117.12 crores (Recurring) & Rs 86.39 crores (One time). Awardees of SAIL plants included employees from Bhilai Steel Plant, Bokaro Steel Plant, Rourkela Steel Plant, Durgapur Steel Plant and Salem Steel On this occasion, the SAIL Directors lauded the award winners and said, ‘SAIL believes that the talent of its people is company’s greatest asset. Each one of you has been reaffirming this commitment to our innovative potential year after year.” They expressed happiness over SAIL
employees winning 65% of VRP awards 2013, which is a big achievement in itself. They congratulated all awardees for their exemplary contribution and commitment. During the course of the event, a booklet titled– ‘Glimpse of Award Winning Projects’ was also released by the SAIL Directors and senior officials.
