Top Bureaucratic Appointments Cleared: Saurabh Garg Gets Extension, Sudhakar Dalela and Sibi George Appointed as Secretaries in MEA

The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has approved a one-year extension in the tenure of Saurabh Garg, IAS (Retd.) (OR:1991), as Secretary, Ministry of Statistics & Programme Implementation, on a contractual basis. He will now continue in the role till July 31, 2026, and will also remain Secretary to the National Statistical Commission.

In key diplomatic postings, Sudhakar Dalela (IFS:1993) has been appointed as Secretary (Economic Relations), Ministry of External Affairs, succeeding Dammu Ravi (IFS:1989), who retires on August 31, 2025. Similarly, Sibi George (IFS:1993) has been named Secretary (West), MEA, and will assume charge following the superannuation of Tanmaya Lal (IFS:1991) on the same date.
