In a significant move to deepen international employer relations, the Standing Conference of Public Enterprises (SCOPE) held a high-level strategic dialogue with the International Labour Organization (ILO) and the International Organisation of Employers (IOE). The meeting aimed at enhancing collaboration to build employer capacities in India through global cooperation.
The discussions were led by K. P. Mahadevaswamy, Chairman, SCOPE and CMD, NBCC, and Atul Sobti, Director General, SCOPE. Representing the international bodies were Roberto Suárez Santos, Secretary General, IOE, Geneva; Ms. Michiko Miyamoto, Director, ILO South Asia; and Ravindra Peiris, Senior Specialist, ILO. Senior representatives from both ILO and SCOPE were also present.
The deliberations focused on key areas such as the development of micro-credentials, skill-building programs, and strengthening awareness of responsible business conduct. A special emphasis was placed on “just transition”—ensuring that the shift to sustainable practices is inclusive and equitable for workers and employers alike.
ILO and IOE expressed strong commitment to support SCOPE’s efforts in building the capacities of employers, especially in the public sector, and enhancing its institutional membership through sustained engagements. The collaboration is expected to usher in a new era of global partnerships and shared best practices for Indian employers navigating a dynamic global labour landscape.
