SECL Celebrates 134th Birth Anniversary of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar with Enthusiastic Events

On April 14, 2025, South Eastern Coalfields Limited (SECL) commemorated the 134th birth anniversary of Bharat Ratna Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, the principal architect of the Indian Constitution. The event took place at SECL’s headquarters and was presided over by Chairman-cum-Managing Director (CMD) Harish Duhan. The ceremony was attended by Director (Technical) N. Franklin Jayakumar, Director (Human Resources) Biranchi Das, Chief Vigilance Officer Himanshu Jain, department heads, labor union representatives, officials, employees, and members of the SC/ST Association and Sista.
The proceedings commenced with the lighting of the lamp by the chief guest, Harish Duhan, near portraits of Gautam Buddha and Dr. Ambedkar. This was followed by floral tributes to the portraits. Subsequently, attendees paid their respects at the statue of Dr. Ambedkar.
In his address, CMD, Harish Duhan reflected on Dr. Ambedkar’s exceptional contributions to society, stating that such great individuals are born once in a century. He highlighted Dr. Ambedkar’s efforts in fostering national consciousness and driving positive societal changes.Duhan emphasized that Dr. Ambedkar’s life teaches the importance of overcoming adversity to achieve success.
Labor union representatives, including Krishna Suryavanshi, D.P. Diwakar, Sanjay Sahu, Ajay Singh, Rahul Das, and Suraj Baghel, shared insights into Dr. Ambedkar’s life and expressed gratitude to the management for organizing the event.
Additionally, SECL’s management extended support to the Mata Rani Ki Kutiya Women’s Old Age Home in Bilaspur by donating chairs, benches, and sweets.
The cultural segment featured “Buddha Vandana” performances by Ms. Disha Khobragade and Ms. Nisha Thawre. The event concluded with closing remarks by Manager (Human Resources) Varun Sharma.
This celebration underscored SECL’s commitment to honoring Dr. Ambedkar’s legacy and promoting social justice and equality within the organization and the broader community.
