SECL Hosts 3rd Coal India HR/IR Conclave “Utkarsh 2026” under the theme Shaping Minds, Strengthening Mines

The third Coal India HR/IR Conclave, “Utkarsh 2026,” hosted by South Eastern Coalfields Limited, was inaugurated today at Vasant Club, Vasant Vihar, SECL, in a dignified ceremony. The two-day conclave brings together senior HR professionals from Coal India Limited and its subsidiary companies to deliberate on key issues pertaining to Human Resources and Industrial Relations.

Addressing the gathering virtually as the Chief Guest, Chairman, Coal India Limited, B. Sairam, emphasized that coal remains the backbone of the nation’s energy security and that employees are the organization’s greatest strength. He highlighted that Coal India is observing this year under the theme “Reform, Perform, Transform,” underscoring the critical role of the workforce in achieving this vision.

In his welcome address, Chairman-cum-Managing Director, SECL, Harish Duhan, expressed pride in hosting the prestigious conclave. He reiterated that employees are the most valuable asset of any organization and stressed the need for continuous efforts towards their development and welfare.

Delivering a special address, Chief Vigilance Officer, Coal India Limited, Brajesh Kumar Tripathy, described Coal India as not just an organization but an identity, remarking with pride, “Only the best emerge as true Coal Indians.”

In the keynote session, Director (Human Resources), Coal India Limited, Dr. Vinay Ranjan, highlighted the transformational journey of Coal India since its inception. He noted that the organization today is committed to providing best-in-class facilities to its employees and emphasized the importance of strengthening communication and empathy at the workplace to achieve better outcomes and effectively meet stakeholder expectations.

The inaugural session was attended by Directors (HR) of all subsidiary companies of Coal India, Directors of SECL, and other senior officials.

The conclave also featured presentations by HR teams from subsidiary companies, showcasing innovative practices and initiatives.

More than 100 HR professionals from Coal India and its subsidiaries are participating in the two-day event. The conclave will include multiple sessions led by eminent HR experts from across the country, offering participants valuable insights, contemporary perspectives, and practical knowledge in the field of Human Resources and Industrial Relations.
