SECL Signs ₹11.87 Crore CSR MoUs to Strengthen Healthcare and Social Development in Chhattisgarh

By THE NEWSMAN OF INDIA.COM|South Eastern Coalfields Limited (SECL) has reinforced its commitment to inclusive growth in Chhattisgarh by signing four Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) worth ₹11.87 crore under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme. The initiatives focus on strengthening public healthcare, early childhood development, and access to safe drinking water in project-affected areas. The MoUs were signed at SECL Headquarters under the guidance of Director (Human Resources) Biranchi Das.
Boosting Healthcare Infrastructure
As part of its healthcare-focused CSR interventions, SECL has undertaken a significant initiative to improve infection control, indoor air quality, and patient safety in major government hospitals through advanced semiconductor-based air sterilisation technology.
At the Late Bisahu Das Mahant Memorial Government Medical College and Hospital, Korba, 62 semiconductor air steriliser units will be installed at a cost of ₹2.81 crore. These units will cover critical and sensitive areas including operation theatres, ICUs, MICUs, NICUs, PICUs, labour rooms, TB wards, burn wards, and other high-risk zones, ensuring enhanced hygiene standards and a safer working environment for medical professionals.
Similarly, at the Kumar Sahab Late Dilip Singh Judev Government Super Specialty Hospital, Bilaspur, 77 semiconductor air steriliser units will be installed with an investment of ₹3.49 crore. The installation will strengthen patient safety and sanitation standards across operation theatres, ICUs, MICUs, dialysis units, and other treatment areas.
Strengthening Early Childhood Development
In the area of social infrastructure and early childhood care, SECL has signed an MoU with Srishti Seva Samiti, Udaipur (Rajasthan), for the development of 200 model Anganwadi centres in Bilaspur district at a cost of ₹4.72 crore. The project aims to modernise Anganwadi centres by upgrading sanitation facilities, providing furniture, and creating child-friendly learning environments to support holistic early childhood development.
Ensuring Safe Drinking Water in Project-Affected Areas
Addressing community welfare in mining-impacted regions, SECL has entered into an MoU with CIPET, Raipur, for the distribution of safe drinking water solutions in project-affected villages of the Gevra area. Under this initiative, 3,989 household water filter sets and water treatment kits of 30-litre capacity will be distributed at a cost of ₹84.73 lakh, significantly improving access to clean and safe drinking water.
All the MoUs were executed on behalf of SECL by General Manager (CSR) C. M. Verma. Senior officials from the CSR department and representatives of the partner organisations were present on the occasion.
Through these targeted CSR initiatives, SECL continues to play a proactive role in strengthening healthcare systems, nurturing early childhood development, and improving the quality of life in communities across Chhattisgarh.
