South Eastern Coalfields Limited (SECL) has long envisioned a society empowered through sustainable development and inclusive growth. Firmly rooted in this vision, SECL’s CSR activities span healthcare, education, and community welfare—demonstrating its unwavering determination to serve society at large. Under the leadership of Director (Personnel) Biranchi Das, who always stands at the forefront of noble initiatives, SECL continues to pioneer transformative projects that uplift underserved communities.
In a heartening move that combines corporate social responsibility with public health advocacy, South Eastern Coalfields Limited (SECL) reaffirmed its commitment to the Government of India’s vision of a “TB Mukt Bharat” by distributing nutrition kits to tuberculosis patients in Bilaspur on 21st July 2025. The initiative is a part of SECL’s broader support to the National TB Elimination Campaign.
Held at Ravindra Bhawan, Vasant Vihar, the Nutrition Kit Distribution Program witnessed the presence of key dignitaries, including Biranchi Das, Director (HR), SECL, who graced the event as Chief Guest. He personally handed over nutrition kits to patients, emphasizing the role of nutritional support in the recovery journey of TB‑affected individuals.
Also in attendance were C.M. Verma, General Manager (CSR), SECL; Dr. Dharmendra Kumar, Chairman of R.K. HIV AIDS Research and Care Centre, Mumbai; Dr. Shrutidev Mishra, CMS; and officials from SECL’s CSR department. Their presence underscored the significance of collective responsibility in public health outreach.
A total of 60 out of 80 identified TB patients received nutrition kits during the event. The remaining 20 patients will be supported through door-to-door delivery by the dedicated project team in the coming days—ensuring no one is left behind.
The initiative is not a standalone effort. Under its CSR banner, SECL has been actively engaged in community health interventions across the coal belt. A comprehensive screening drive has reached over 50,000 individuals, leading to the detection of 314 TB cases. This underscores SECL’s proactive stance in early diagnosis and intervention—both critical pillars in TB management.
The distribution of nutrition kits is a crucial element in the broader fight against tuberculosis. Malnutrition weakens the immune system, making individuals more susceptible to TB and complicating recovery. By providing essential nutrients, SECL is not only addressing the disease but also empowering patients to recover with dignity and resilience.
This program reflects SECL’s growing reputation as a corporate entity deeply invested in the social and health fabric of the communities it operates in. The company’s focused approach—combining health screening, nutritional aid, and awareness—stands as a model of holistic corporate contribution towards public health.
