Sr. IPS, Kailash Makwana to take over as the next DGP of MP

The Madhya Pradesh government has appointed 1988 batch IPS officer Kailash Makwana as the state’s next director general of police (DGP).
An order issued late Saturday night stated Makwana will replace incumbent DGP Sudhir Saxena, who is set to retire on November 30.
Makwana is currently chairman of the MP Police Housing Corporation. He will take over as the new DGP of the state on December 1. Saxena, the 1987-batch Indian Police Service (IPS) officer, became the DGP of Madhya Pradesh in March 2022.

Makwana’s qualifications and extensive experience make him an exceptional candidate. Appointed as an IPS officer on August 30, 1988, he holds a Bachelor of Engineering (BE) degree and a Master of Technology (MTech) from the prestigious Indian Institute of Technology (IIT). Renowned for his sharp acumen, he has excelled in numerous high-profile positions throughout his career, demonstrating strong leadership and expertise in various challenging roles.
Director General of the Special Police Establishment Lokayukta, he gained significant attention for his bold actions in tackling corruption cases. Following the inauguration of the Mahakal Lok Corridor, he was appointed as the Chairman of the MP Police Housing Corporation, a position he continues to hold to this day.
