By THE NEWSMAN OF INDIA.COM| Hindustan Petroleum corporate Ltd, has taken a decisive step in reinforcing its long-term profitability with the commissioning of the world’s first LC-Max–based Residue Upgradation Facility at its Visakh Refinery. The landmark project marks a significant advancement in refinery technology, enabling higher conversion efficiency and a more valuable product slate aligned with evolving market dynamics.

The new facility enhances the refinery’s ability to convert low-value heavy residues into high-value distillates, directly improving product realisation and margin capture. By maximising yield from every barrel processed, the refinery strengthens its competitive position in a margin-sensitive global refining environment.

A key advantage of the LC-Max–based configuration is the enhanced flexibility it offers in processing heavier and opportunity crudes. This capability allows HPCL to optimise crude sourcing strategies, reduce input costs, and respond swiftly to fluctuations in global crude markets, all while maintaining operational efficiency.

With this technological leap, the Visakh Refinery is well positioned for sustained value creation at global benchmarks. The project underscores HPCL’s focus on capability-driven growth, where advanced process integration, efficiency, and flexibility translate into stronger financial performance and long-term resilience.
