The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has approved a one-year extension in service for Tapan Kumar Deka, IPS (HP:1988), as Director of the Intelligence Bureau. His extended tenure will continue beyond June 30, 2025, or until further orders, whichever is earlier.

The extension has been granted in relaxation of the provisions of Fundamental Rule 56(d) and Rule 16(1A) of the All India Services (Death-cum-Retirement Benefits) Rules, 1958.
