Tarun Kumar Pithode Empanelled as Joint Secretary at the Centre

The Government of India today empanelled Tarun Kumar Pithode, IAS (Madhya Pradesh cadre, 2009 batch), for holding the post of Joint Secretary or equivalent at the Centre (Initial), marking a significant milestone in his administrative career.

Pithode, an Electronics & Communication engineer from MANIT, Bhopal, began his professional journey as a software engineer with GE India and later worked in Indian Railways before joining the IAS. His strong academic and professional foundation has consistently reflected in his administrative work.

Over the years, he has held several important district assignments in Madhya Pradesh, including Collector of Rajgarh, where he dealt with drought, agrarian distress, and socio-economic challenges with innovation and empathy. Beyond administration, he is also known as the author of I am Possible, a widely appreciated novel addressing themes of ambition, caste, corruption, and poverty.

In August 2024, he was appointed Director in the Ministry of Environment, Forest & Climate Change (MoEF\&CC) under the Central Staffing Scheme, where he continues to contribute to environmental policymaking at the national level.

His empanelment as Joint Secretary today represents a formal acknowledgment of his leadership capabilities and positions him for greater responsibilities at the Centre. With his blend of field experience, policy expertise, and intellectual engagement, Tarun Kumar Pithode stands out as one of the promising administrators of his generation.
